Privacy policy
Plain English. Last updated May 2026.
Bot or Person ("we", "us") runs the website at botorperson.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run an independent review site.
What we collect
- Analytics (Google Analytics 4). When you visit, Google Analytics records standard, mostly aggregated data — pages viewed, approximate location (country/region, derived from a truncated IP — we do not store your full IP), device and browser type, and how you arrived (e.g. a search or a link). We use this to understand which articles are useful and to improve the site. We do not use it to identify you personally.
- Affiliate link clicks. Some outbound links are affiliate links. When you click one, the destination merchant (and its affiliate network) may set a cookie to attribute a later sign-up to us. That happens on their systems under their privacy policies, not ours. See our affiliate disclosure.
- Server logs. Our host records routine request logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent) for security and reliability. These are rotated and not used to profile visitors.
We do not run ad networks, sell data, ask you to create an account, or collect names, emails, or payment details — there is nothing to buy here.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to measure usage. Affiliate networks may set cookies only after you click an outbound affiliate link. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on. Blocking cookies does not break the site.
Third parties
- Google Analytics — usage measurement. Google's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — the site loads web fonts from Google's font CDN, which may receive your IP as part of serving the file.
- Affiliate networks and merchants (e.g. Help Scout, Zendesk, Freshworks, Tidio, Crisp, Chatbase and their networks) — only when you click an affiliate link, for commission attribution.
- Cloudflare — DNS and network routing for the domain.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold, or to object to its processing. Because we do not maintain accounts or contact records, we typically hold no information that identifies you individually beyond aggregated analytics and rotating server logs. If you have a request or question, email us at ivarsbergs@lightsourcegames.com.
Data retention & children
Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics' default retention settings; server logs are rotated on a short cycle. This site is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
